Marketplaces transfer data to tax authorities
Since April 2026, control over e-commerce in Kazakhstan has intensified. Now marketplaces are required to regularly transfer sales data to the state revenue authorities. This important change affects all entrepreneurs working through online platforms.
What has changed
According to the Tax Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Order No. 614 of the Ministry of Finance dated October 21, 2025, marketplace owners are required on a monthly basis, no later than the 5th day, to transfer information about sold goods, provided services, and payments to individuals — residents of the Republic of Kazakhstan. At the moment, 23 marketplaces have already sent such data to the state revenue authorities. The reports contain information about sellers, sales volumes, and payments made.
Why this is needed
The main goal of the innovations is to increase transparency in e-commerce. The state seeks to reduce the shadow turnover, ensure full tax revenues to the budget, and create equal conditions for all market participants.
In fact, this means that data on real sales is now automatically compared with the tax reporting of entrepreneurs.
What will happen next
After submitting tax returns:
- The state revenue authorities will conduct a desk audit.
- Marketplace data will be compared with entrepreneurs’ reports.
- If discrepancies are found:
- – the taxpayer will receive a notification,
- – explanation or data correction will be required.
Risks for business
For sellers on marketplaces, this means increased control and reduced ability to hide real income. Any inconsistencies may lead to additional tax assessments, fines, and additional audits.
Special attention should be paid to accounting by individual entrepreneurs, self-employed persons, and those who work on several platforms at once.
What is important to do now
Entrepreneurs need to prepare in advance for the new requirements. It is important to ensure correct accounting of all sales, synchronize marketplace data with accounting, and timely reflect income in tax reporting. Regular internal reconciliation of data will help avoid unpleasant situations during audits.
