Work visa C3 - FCHAIN

The C3 work visa in Kazakhstan is intended for foreign citizens coming to the country to perform temporary labor duties. We bring to your attention the main features of the C3 visa, the process of obtaining it and important points that should be taken into account when applying for it.

To obtain a C3 work visa in Kazakhstan, one of the following documents is required:

  • Permit to hire foreign labor force issued by the local executive body. More detailed information on obtaining a work permit by the Employer can be found here https://kz.f-chain.com/en/work-permit/
  • General Power of Attorney for the first head of a foreign representative office or branch (in case of labor activity as the first head and his deputies in Kazakhstani companies with 100% foreign participation).
  • Documents confirming employment as a teacher in educational organizations according to international treaties on cooperation in the educational area.
  • Documents confirming labor activity in member companies and bodies of AIFC, Astana Hub and others.

C3 work visa can be obtained in the following ways:

  • At the embassy or consulate of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the country of citizenship of the foreign specialist on the basis of a letter of invitation from an employer registered in Kazakhstan.
  • At the Embassy or Consulate of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the country of permanent residence, if it is different from the country of citizenship, in the presence of supporting documents for long-term residence (residence permit, study or work visa).
  • On the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan at the request of the employing company.

C3 work visa is not required for citizens of CIS and EAEU: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan.

The term of validity of the work visa usually corresponds to the term of the work permit. Or, in particular it is 1 year with the possibility of extension for the next year without the need to leave the Republic of Kazakhstan. One of the requirements is to have a passport with at least 3 months remaining validity after the expiration of the visa. If the passport expires earlier, the visa will be shortened.

The period of processing of documents for issuance of a work visa is about 5-7 working days from the moment of registration of the invitation in the Migration Service authorities, provided that the work visa is obtained in the country of citizenship of the foreign worker. However, in practice verification and approval of documents by the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan may take up to 30 calendar days. After receiving an invitation with a visa support number, it may take from 1 to 5 working days for the visa to be pasted into the passport at the Embassy/Consulate of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Visa processing in the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan takes from 5 to 10 working days on average. But approval of documents by the National Security Committee of the RK may also take up to 30 calendar days.
