List of Prohibited and Restricted Goods for Marketplaces in Kazakhstan - FCHAIN

List of Prohibited and Restricted Goods for Marketplaces in Kazakhstan

The Ministry of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan has published a unified List of Goods Prohibited and Restricted for Listing and Sale on Electronic Trading Platforms. The document is intended for participants in the e-commerce market and helps ensure compliance with legal requirements when selling goods through marketplaces and online stores.

The List was prepared in accordance with the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On Regulation of Trading Activities” based on information provided by competent government authorities.

Purpose of the List

The List consolidates information on goods whose circulation within the Republic of Kazakhstan is either prohibited or restricted by law, including their sale through electronic trading platforms. Its primary purpose is to improve transparency in e-commerce and provide market participants with a single source of up-to-date information on applicable restrictions.

Who Should Use the List

The List is intended for:

  1. marketplace owners;
  2. online stores;
  3. sellers and suppliers;
  4. e-commerce operators;
  5. other participants in the e-commerce sector.

Using the List allows businesses to determine in advance whether a particular product may be listed and sold, while ensuring compliance with legal requirements before publishing product listings.

What Will Change for Marketplaces and Sellers?

The unified List enables electronic trading platforms to apply consistent approaches when moderating product listings and reduces the risk of offering goods that are prohibited or subject to restrictions.

For sellers, it serves as a practical reference tool that helps assess whether products may legally be sold through marketplaces and minimizes the risk of violating applicable legislation.

Important Information

The Ministry of Trade and Integration emphasizes that the List is for informational and reference purposes only. It does not introduce new prohibitions but systematizes existing legal requirements, making them more accessible and easier to apply.

The Ministry of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan is the authorized government body responsible for regulating e-commerce. If violations are identified, administrative liability will be imposed by the competent authority in accordance with the Code of Administrative Offences of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The List Will Be Regularly Updated

The Ministry has announced that the List will be updated on an ongoing basis as legislation changes and new information is received from competent government authorities.

The official List of Prohibited and Restricted Goods is available on the government portal.
